Freddie Mercure Warehouse party is coller than you!!

FREDDIE MERCURY WAREHOUSE PARTY > secret location

Hi Lovely ones!

How is going your freak life???

Sorry for being away of the blog for a long time...you know...holidays and staff...Berlin craziness..takes a bit of time to go back to the things and reality...i wish could be there forever!!

This time i want to tell you a bit of the coolness! The Shoreditch band which is cooler than you...lol get to know why!

In an unusual interview with Chaz John Ross i tried to understand what music is for the him !! And i went to his house just before his Warehouse party tomorrow to find out a bit more of the guys and what they are up to! The party promise to be dare as always...if you want to check it out ..come down around Hoxton street tomorrow and get yourself ready for a dirty fun and dress up atmosphere!

FF&PP: Let’s start with... what is the special twist about the coolness’ warehouse party in Shoreditch?

The main twist is that you get to see The Coolness perform!! Since last summer we've completely stopped playing in places like the Old Blue last and Barfly because of the
pretentious atmosphere that surrounds such places and it is not cool. There's only a few live other bands such fellow East Londoners Crystal Fighters which had enough fast and euphoric material to move a crowd in such an environment.
Also at Club Cool you won't hear the same genre of music all night like you would do in a lot of the minimal techno and dustup parties that use similar venues to us.

FF&PP: So how would you classify the coolness style?

We are an underground band and we always will be but we still use a pop song format as presentation. We use a lot of simple lyrics or arrangements, similar to dance music in our songs. I would say that is a mix of styles, mainly disco rhythms over a synthesised backing track. We have some cock-rock influence as most of the themes are sex and drugs based.
Basically we are a post-ironic mix of Early 90s pop-rave hit's and stadium rock theatrics and vocals.

FF&PP: In that case which bands and things are the influences and inspiration for the coolness?

The idea of something being described as having a certain amount of 'Coolness' factor stems from lack of inspiration.
I also enjoy some of the ideas that Beatles took onboard where each song was a story or evoked a certain image or character.
We are planning on releasing a record called 'Londonized' this year. It's about Cunts.

FF&PP: Talking about London life how do you see the music tendencies and trends around East London and Shoreditch at the present time?

It's gone a bit too high fashion to tell you the truth. Too many rich kids and business have moved into the area and the general sense of fun and DIY ethic seems to have been replaced by elitism and a basic self loathing and apathy.
If New Rave was Hair Metal then it's been killed by Drag which is the modern version of Grunge. All bullshit if you ask me!! There’s a lot of warehouse parties and house parties at the moment which is a reaction to this homogenisation .

FF&PP: So going to this parties and seen a lot of things why do you normaly like to write music about girls?

I have a slight sexual preference to females over males. I'm not interested to spend money so I have to make my own entertainment. Maybe each girl I've ever seduced is because I've crafted her own special song. I can't get laid unless I write a girl her own track. That is the deal!

FF&PP: All right...so let’s get all together...so what makes the coolness cooler than the others?

We are not cooler than any others. Why would I be in a band call 'The Coolness' if I actually cared about being cooler than anyone.
I should have called my band 'The Dickheads'. Recently we did consciously try to fuck with people heads by releasing a record that was titled 'IS' cooler than you. The Coolness is a living thing not a band. It's like saying a fish 'IS' fishier than you.

FF&PP: Going back to the beginning of the whole story...how did the coolness start?

The name was actually thought up by an ex female lead singer 'Ms Texass' who now fronts a band called 'Unkindness of Ravens'.
She used to visit LA a lot and heard the term in the states. I guess we are part of the 'garage band revolution' - In the late 90s/early 00s the music software and computers became
affordable to home musicians/teenagers/upper working class people like myself. That's where most of sounds out there comes from . We are performers and songwriters above anything and we use programmes like logic and garage band to help us to produce, write and perform our material.

FF&PP: Ok...so being one of this cool upper working class boy with a creative twist..when did you start being interested in music?

The day I was born John Lennon's 'Imagine' was number one in the UK singles chart. I come from a musical family and have been lucky enough to grow up around recording studios all of my life. My uncle did pop record in 1980s with the Fleetwood Mac producer
so I always knew about Atari STs and cubase and stuff. I actually thought all music was made on cubase/ataris and only listened to house until I watched The Beatles anthology
on TV during the Brit Pop era. I thought a guitar was something you'd overdub to make a track sound more interesting. Didn't even know what a band was for half of my life and know it is half of it and more...

Andy Warhol of the electronic scene!

Larrys Tee's B-day was all about dancing....and fuck everything! The celebration of the charismatic and irreverent NY's dj was a kind of meeting for many characters of the night as usual! The LFW's photographer Billa photostream was there registering all the weird and freak styles.. Same as me...lol

What we could see was a group of normal people in a normal London's sunday....hahahaha For sure Larry knows what to play to get the crowd shaking and smashing!

To get to know more about the NY Dj now living in London check http://www.myspace.com/nylarrytee.

Larry was called by the DJ magazine as the "Andy Warhol of the electronic music" in 2009. Maybe because of his attitude on stage and his relation to the fashion scene and people.

He promised to give me an interview for here and the Pura magazine which i am elaborating but for now....

A bit of Larry...

"One of NYC's most legendary DJs, Larry Tee, created the term 'ELECTROCLASH' for his historic festivals of the same name, started the party DISCO 2000 that was featured in the movie 'Party Monster", DJ'ed alongside Larry Levan, and has just been certified gold with his new single 'Licky' which features Princess Superstar, Santigold, and Top 40 pop star Shontelle. His Electroclash Festivals and his club nights in Brooklyn featured the Scissor Sisters, Felix Da Housecat, 2 Many DJs, Tiga, Peaches, and James Murphy from LCD Soundsystem.

Larry has also been on fire of late as a remixer, putting his go-to touch on smashes by La Roux, Crookers feat. Róisín Murphy, Lady Gaga, Kele, and Major Lazer. Touring his new album 'CLUB BADD' out worldwide on ULTRA, he has been supported by DJs like Justice, Erol Alkan, Crookers, Pete Tong, Jesse Rose, David Guetta, MSTRKRFT, and the songs have been remixed for an upcoming collection CLUB BADDER by Afrojack, Sébastien Léger, Hervé, Bart B More, Kris Menace, and Steve Aoki to name a few.

How everything started.....

But Tee's experience goes back further to the 80s when he lived in Atlanta and became friends friends with Athens' stars Michael Stipe from REM and the B-52's. In the 90s he wrote the Billboard Magazine #1 Dance song of 1992 by RuPaul (now a TV star in the USA), DJ'ed with Frankie Knuckles, David Morales and Danny Tenaglia at the Roxy, Palladium, and Love Machine, started the legendary Disco 2000 party at Limelight (which was the first club to feature techno on the main floor in the States), and launched Twilo Fridays which introduced Sasha & Digweed and Carl Cox to the big room clubs in NYC. In the 00s he launched Electroclash and put out 3 genre-defining albums that featured many of his own songs, and he helped launch the electro craze with his festivals in NYC and Europe. His debut album, Club Badd, has been embraced by clubbers around the world, and he is touring non-stop before his next album of collaborations comes out in 2011. His latest single "Lets Make Nasty," with its Afrojack remix, spent 5 weeks at #1 on Beatport earlier this year" via www.myspace.com/larrytee

From NY city...a tip to the boys!!

"What happens when you’re a pair of "fabulously" hot girls (barely old enough to drink) from the moist and pseudo-primordial land of Miami who enjoy the musical strains of rap, freestyle, 80's New Wave, and punk?

Well, if you’re Debbie D. or Daphne D., you have no choice but to morph like a magical, fantastic robot into a volatile, hilarious ghetto booty group called Avenue D.

Then you must fuse these musical influences (from 2 Live Crew to Cyndi Lauper, from Jem and the Holograms to CRASS) together to produce an awesome array of songs with all the style and fun of 80’s camp, mixed with hard-hitting beats, and a little "Girls Gone Wild" thrown in for good measure. Then you go forth and shock and rock the legions of teeming masses in NYC and beyond!"

In my opinion this girls are great!! Love the beats of this tune!

After admitting being sluts the group Avenue D from NY city gives a tips to the boys which very often tend to get too drunk and later on can't assist their girlfriends...such idiots! lol And then you keep thinking:are they in a relationship with you or with their glass? When are they going to grown up??? Patetic! hahahahaha

It's brilliant! thau!

East end boys back in the 80's in London!

Sweeties for you all sleep well i had to post this classic video of the pet shop boys cause i couldn't stop listening to it another day! sooo good!

The great is that in the video you can see a bit of London back in the 80's and the people style with the leathers jackets, the jeans vest, the hats which we still see it so often on the streets now too! Look those two east end boys lol spending a sunny day at the park in a real 80's style at the present moment...hahaha. Check it out the hair, the sunglasses and the T-shirt with the stripes. The 80's is more than alive on the streets of east London not just in the Pet Shop Boys tune.

That's the inspiration ....back in the 80's...at the golden times of Human League, David Bowie, Madonna...the "back to the future" movie. They knew already at the film what would be the fashion in the future now in 2010...it would be back in the 80's!

Love 80's style London Boys!! Good night! Thau!

Because the rap is not just black!

Guys! Check it out this rapper girl from South east London Kate Tempest. Trust! She is better in live than in any youtube video and she can make rhyme out of any beat. Impressed..plus she can describe London very well in her words hehehe. She is part of the project Tongue Fu which intend to bring on the stage new artists from east London. Kate is for sure a high light. Because the rap is not just from the black! And who said that girly girls like me can not appreciate that too? Thau!

For those days that we want to get away of the electronic parties...

The Brassroots’ show last Thursday at the Rich Mix bar showed that the live music and the venue goes very well together and can be a option for the east end people when they want to get away a bit of the electronic nights.

I have to say that i also like some instrumental music a part of our good techno/ electro of every day..lol. The band formed in 2008, among the streets of East London, showed us a impressive groove and energy on stage.

The group of musicians made from a variety different countries and backgrounds including England, Israel, France, Greece and America, brought an unbelievable real live instrumental performance to the venue.

They presented some of the well known pop music in a unique and challenging format and style such as some classics of Radiohead and some others in a bag of goodies.

A part of the music i could check it out some people that has been there at the London east end cinema and they prove to have a bit of style ...some more than the others...of course...hahaha

Check it out this couple that i found seating in the corner. I loved their rock and unique style and i am sure that it should be a kind of normal basic outfit for them! Hahaha a simple look to walk around till the east London cinema. They reminded me a bit of Lennon and Yoko Ono ( if she would have a blondie European style). The amazing is how they didn't get embarrassed with the picture...they may be use to it! kk

I like the pink boots...well i like pink anyway as you can see it. But i never wear pink in my outfits as my good Swedish friend Tove ( i miss her) used to. I personal rather the red if i want to look feminine, it is a bit fatale....ulala.. Normally i like to see the pink in the decoration, in the walls or things ( ah.. and in the lipstick! Makes a doll look! So adorable! i have my days of the mood for sure too) People can notice my fascination with the coulor when they come to visit me in my lovely flat at Shoreditch. For some reason that makes me happy and relief from the dark and cruel world outside...hehehe

Well getting back to the people at that day...

Doesn’t matter the age people can still dance with the groove ...and have the style! And sometimes even more like this lady! I like that attitude and i absolutely loved the print in her shirt combined with the jeans! Very colorful and funky! Vintage from the late 60’s and beginning of 70’s.

Those two appeared to be having a great fun...

The girl on the left catched my attention with the doll look made from the white lace dress, the pink make up on the cheeks giving a light outfit but the bleached hair can also add a aggressive tone to the look... which i like it! light and aggressive at the same time... sexy! I am kind of finding girls sexy at the moment...lol

We Londoners love glasses, glasses and glasses ...any type! It because we all want to look more intelligent and smart than we actually and we try to prove the world with a pair of frames. Is a good way to showed yourself a bit cult or intellectual even if when you are not at all. The trick works! Especially to come to a cinema and an alternative live band show or culture centre...oh..yeah...let's talk about films while we get pissed. 'I got my glasses so i am able for that now'...hehe

Also the jean shirt and the leather jacket is a simple and classic combination which works at any time! Trust me! Was a good look but sometimes girls around Shoreditch should be more original i think!

I got a bit impressed by the type of instruments...looked amazing...bye!

Getting Noughtie at the Rich Mix

The exhibition Noughtie Nighlife had its launch last Thursday, 9th September , at Rich Mix cinema, Shoreditch, London. With the intention to show the fashion, faces and attitudes of cult London club nights, Noughtie Nightlife celebrates the first decade of the new century through the images that tell the story of the clubbing nights in a shocking, stylist and irreverent way.

The cinema was for sure the clubber’s spot during the fashionist evening.

The pictures show legendary nights such as Kash Point, Nag Nag Nag, Trash, Anti-Social, All You Can Eat, Durrr, Smash & Grab, Boombox, Circus, secretsundaze and Caligula reporting a generation of clubbers ( called the cool kids) who embraced the rapidly expanding world of digital technology and social networking and emerged as a hybrid mix ‘n’ match style tribe, both in terms of music, fashion and cultural beliefs.

The rule is to express yourself with colors, make-ups, heels, outfits and amazing jackets and accessories.

Antony Price, curator of the London College of Fashion and one of the events’ organizer and supporters says the pictures encapsulates the feelings and creativity that the London scene fostered through images taken by the fashion photographers, also clubbers and trend setters.

According to him the images is a document of the vivid, bold, daring and flamboyant characters that made the scene so unique and turned London into the world’s premier example of cutting-edge fashion, music and street-style crossover.

The Launch had a public mixed of fashion students, photographers, djs, party animals and the Shoreditch crew which normally goes to places. Many of people could see themselves or some friends at the pictures, being able to remember some of the great nights that doesn’t happen any longer. The funky , cool and sexy images represented the approach of the art to the music and fashion a part of a mix of some androgynous, vintage, geek, punk, grunge and clubbers styles which you can see on the east London’s streets and party scene.

The exhibition in its own is a picture of a generation of people molded by the strong music and fashion culture of London and its clubs. Also reflects all the freedom’s aspiration in a sexual, physiologic and sociological way experimented by the cool kids along the past 10 years of clubbing nights in a nearly obscene context.

The boldness of the images, the make-up and color remind a bit of the 90's of the film "Party Monster" once that scene portrayed at the movie still exists at the present moment of the new century at the London's clubs. But the scene now a part of the same obsession for the fashion got the digital technology on the top making the movement even faster in spreading your tendencies around the world.

Was a great opportunity to meet some of the work of the fashion photographers such as Billa Baldwin, Ellis Scott, Matthew Brindle/Thom Will (MEGAMEGAMEGA.com), Christopher James (weknowwhatyoudidlastnight.com), Rory DCS, James Unsworth, Alex Warren, Rai Royal, Wade Fletcher and Mr Hartnett/Suzy Del Campo/David Swindells (PYMCA).

After the gallery session and the drinks reception for a selection of people invited, the public could enjoy a bit of the Warboy’s set, one of the producer of the Caligula night, which happens every Fridays at the Bassing house club at Shoreditch.

On the right side the dj and producer of the Caligula night, Jimmy Warboy.

For those who couldn’t make it for the Launch the photos will be exposed at the mezzanine of the Cinema till 2nd October having a symposium afternoon on the 22th September with Ted Polhemus, David Swindells.

More details visit the Rich Mix website:
richmix.org.uk

As i was working organizing the event i could take pictures of some of the people that have been there!

Check it out some faces and styles!

The dark hair, red lipstick together with the jeans and leather is always a key for the rock'n roll style.

The piercings and tattoos is always present in the shoreditch's boys look.

The Mickey Mouse's print jumper brought something fun and irreverent to the outfit together with the colored shorts. Purple and blue goes very well.

The white t-shirt with jeans is always great.

The vintage style is still a very strong tendency with the stripe shirt and the geek frame glasses.

Some people took the idea of dressing up a little bit more serious and i loved it!

A Clean and minimalist look can be elegant too.

The punk is another style found on the streets of Shoreditch. The caps, hoods, piercings, dark colors and the black eye liner remind a bit of the Sex Pistols' time.

The casual is cool too. On the right one of the photographers, Ellis Scott.

The 3 sexy ones.

the super short dress is a sexy option for the clubbing nights and with the leather belt gets a bit more style. The long hair in this case make the look even sexier.

Colors, different prints, colors and colors again. The superimposition of prints is super in.

The freak outfit brought a bit of the Tokyo clubbing kids' style to the London's gallery.

So the art is cool and the cool is art too! I guess...
